Malaysian badminton star LEE Zii Jia, who is currently ranked 10th in the world and seeded No. 1, proved unstoppable in the first round of the Yonex Swiss Open in Basel. Although he initially faltered against his Taiwanese opponent YANG Su Li (world number 30), he ultimately kept control and secured his first victory.
The match began with a tight first set, in which Zii Jia briefly had to tremble at 15-17 in favour of his opponent. However, the Malaysian champion showed nerves of steel and fought his way back to finally win the set 21-19.
Zii Jia then showed all his class in the second set and gave his opponent no chance. With a dominant performance, he won confidently 21-12 and secured his place in the next round of the tournament.
