The Swiss pairing of Jorina JANN/Leila ZARROUK was lucky to make even enter to today's qualifying round in the women's doubles – they entered the qualifications as ‘promoted from reserve’. The two young Swiss women - both of whom will only be 18 this year - didn't need to be told twice and took to the court with great confidence.
Their opponents from Uganda, Fadilah Shamika MOHAMED RAFI and Tracy NALUWOOZA, were quite immediately beaten 21-11 and 21-15 by JANN/ZARROUK. The two Swiss players certainly benefitted from their shared experience at this year's Swiss Championships, where they achieved third place together in the women's doubles.
With their victory today, Jann and Zarrouk have earned at least one more match on the international stage and will compete in the main draw tomorrow, Wednesday.
