Swiss badminton hopes at the Yonex Swiss Open 2024

The draw for the Yonex Swiss Open 2024 is online and four Swiss athletes have made it into the main draw thanks to wildcards.

Tobias Kuenzi (SUI) will face a tough nut to crack in the first round of the men's singles: Kenta Nishimoto from Japan, the world number 11 and number 2 in the tournament. It will be a big challenge for Kuenzi to defeat the Japanese player, but anything is possible.

Jenjira (Jenny) Stadelmann (SUI) has been drawn against Pai Yu Po (TPE), an opponent who could be within reach on a good day. The Taiwanese player is ranked 29th in the world, Jenny is currently 65th, so with a bit of luck and a good performance Stadelmann could reach the next round.

In the mixed, Minh Quang Pham and Aline Müller (SUI) have also made it into the main draw thanks to a wild card. However, they have been drawn against a very strong pairing in Hiroki Nishi/Akari Sato (JPN). The Japanese are more than 100 places ahead of the Swiss in the world rankings. Nevertheless, Pham/Müller will give their all to pull off a surprise.
