Mixed Doubles: Last year’s runners-up claim victory
In 2025, China’s ZHANG Chi finished as runner-up in the mixed doubles at the YONEX Swiss Open, partnering her compatriot ZHU Yi Jun. This year, now playing alongside CHENG Xing and facing her former mixed doubles partner in the final, she claimed the title in Basel for the first time in her career. In an extremely thrilling final – with one match point for each side – CHENG Xing/ZHANG Chi, seeded sixth, defeated their unseeded compatriots ZHU Yi Jun/LI Qian (world number 74) 20-22, 21-15, 22-20.
“We know our opponents very well, of course, so we tried to focus on ourselves,” summed up the world number 14s. The pair were also impressed by the atmosphere in the St. Jakobshalle: “The crowd was very enthusiastic.”
Two weeks earlier, CHENG Xing/ZHANG Chi had already triumphed in the final of the YONEX German Open – and gained the confidence to carry them through the subsequent tournaments.
