Women’s singles: Victory for S. Katethong from Thailand

The title in today’s women’s singles final goes to Thailand’s Supanida KATETHONG. Born in 1997, she has so far recorded just one victory at a Super 300 tournament in her career – in 2023, she won the Badminton US Open.

Her opponent today, Putri Kusuma WARDANI from Indonesia, is the number 1 seed at this year’s Swiss Open. The 23-year-old already has a bronze medal from the 2025 World Championships to her name and is ranked 6th in the world.

Today’s final between the two athletes went relatively comfortably in Katethong’s favour: she won the first set dominantly with 21-11. Wardani was unable to make up enough points in the second set either, meaning the final ended 21-11, 21-15 after 40 minutes.
