Men’s singles favourite Li Shi Feng fails to advance to the finals
In the second semi-final of the men’s singles competition, the tournament’s number 1 seed, LI Shi Feng from China, faced Indonesia’s Alwi FARHAN. The 20-year-old Indonesian, who last lost to the Chinese player at the China Masters in September 2025, really took off when the score was 2–2 and led 11–4 at the interval. At 13-6, FARHAN allowed his opponent to close the gap slightly, but won the first set comfortably 21-10.
In the second set, the Chinese player pulled ahead at 6-5. With the score at 16-6 in the Chinese player’s favour, the tide turned and FARHAN won the next 10 points in a row. It became tense once again as to whether the Chinese player could force a deciding set. However, his Indonesian opponent kept his nerve and clinched the match after 49 minutes in two sets, 21-10 and 21-19.
