The first title goes to Denmark
After a very strong start by Rivaldy/Mentari, Bay-Smidt/Søby found into the game. Slowly closing up, they eventually turned the game and won 21-18.
In the second game the Indonesians dominated the game to their taste. With cleverly placed attacks, they were able to play for the points very fast. The score of 21-12 underlines the dominance.
The last game contrasted the previous one strongly. Bay-Smidt/Søby had the room and possibilities, too, to shape the play in their manner. It seemed, Rivaldy/Mentari felt a great amount of pressure by the audience, many Indonesian fans came to Basel to see their idols triumph. But right before the last pause, Rivaldy/Mentari performed a string of perfect rallies, that brought them back on track and let them hope for a turnaround. The Danes were able to close the first half with a small advance, 11-9.
Unfortunately for Rivaldy/Mentari, the string of success broke after the break. Although playing strong to keep up with Bay-Smidt/Søby, the amount of unforced errors was too big. Mathias Bay-Smidt and Rikke Søby won the final in Basel after three games: 21-18, 12-21 and 21-16.
